Just recently i've been fired from my work. I am working as a crew at some fast food chain, giving customer's orders, cleaning tables and stuff. And then my manager wanted a costume change, he wanted our belly buttons to be exposed, which is okay for me because i am pretty confident with my body. But that confidence was crushed, because he suddenly fired me. Reason? He didn't like my piercings.
Here's the thing. I know managers are teh boss at any business that you encounter. When there's a business there's a manager handling it. He has the right to hire and fire anyone he wants. BUT he doesn't have the right to discriminate people. It would have been ookay if he could break the new to me softly, but he preferred to say that my piercings are disgusting and ruins the chain's image. I like my piercings. I have a bellybuttin piercing which is a very cute barbell and really raises my sex appeal. Aside from that, i have a microdermal piercing at the back in teh form of a rose. What's so wrong with that?
Everyone has teh right to make a statement. We have the right to choose what we want, when we want it. And no one has teh right to say that you look disgusting with your choices. Even if you decide to stop bathing a couple of days there will still be a reason behind it and you don't have to explain yourself to everyone you encounter. It's your choice, that's what' important.
Piercings are the new trend today. Maybe he doesn't know the beauty of body art, of making yourslef more unique from other people. It is not just body art, it is a form of self expression. And it also helps other people to feel confident and not be ashamed to show who they are. It has a certain kind of charm that shows courage, uniqueness and even contentment. So don't discriminate us. Come to understand us if not join us.
Piercings are not just body art--it is who we are.
