Hello, Tasia I've got many answers for you after I shared this issue :)
Ricardo Rip Ripper =>> its normal.
Louise James-Long =>> It's fine it happened to my snake bites nothing bad happens :)
Spike Bates =>> I was having the same issue with mine shortly after I first got it. The flat backs will always indent the skin inside your mouth because it's soft and always wet. I would suggest a slightly longer bar, get a loop, or get a curl over. I've had a curl over in my Labret for years now.
Marcin Barczyński =>> No, it's not normal. A slight indentation can occur, but if the base of the stud is basically inside the lip's mucous tissue, like we see in the second photo, then it doesn't look good.
If the indentation progresses, you should switch to a longer stud, or reconsider having a labret piercing at all. Perhaps the indentation is the result of the teeth pressing against the base of the stud, but it's hard to say just based on these photos.
What I can say, though, is that these gums look awfully mottled. If the discoloration is a result of some gum/teeth disease, then keeping a lip piercing is a very bad idea, because the friction of the stud's base against the gums will erode them further.
BisQuit Hadlow =>> Its completely normal and it's also just called a lip piercing or an off centre lip piercing, 'labret' means the middle of ur bottom lip. As long as it doesn't hurt it's all good but u may find once a year or less you might get slight flair ups and irritations if you don't keep the bar clean. Use a toothbrush to gently brush the back of the bar when cleaning ur teeth as plaque builds up into a sandpaper-like, abrasive surface.
